Professional Designation Programs

A NAHB Designation says a lot about you! National designations offer excellent opportunities to improve your skills, advance your career, and be recognized for your commitment to professional growth.

If you’re looking to take your career to the next level, consider one of NAHB’s professional designations in building, remodeling, green building, sales and marketing, and low-income housing tax credit. They’re designed to boost your skill set and as a means to differentiate yourself to customers and employers.

NAHB has partnered with the Learning Resources Network, Inc. to offer a variety of on-demand online courses and certificates through its learning platform, UGotClass. NAHB offers virtual learning opportunities that are priced right and fit easily into your busy schedule.

The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

A Certified Graduate Associate (CGA) learns about the home building business from the best source possible: builders and remodelers with years of field experience.  Earned through classroom instruction, the CGA designation affirms industry knowledge and commitment to professionalism in the building industry.

The Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) is designed to emphasize business and project management skills as the keys to a professional building operation. As a CGB, you become a member of an exclusive national program, gain recognition as an industry leader and call attention to yourself in a crowded marketplace.

The Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) is designed to emphasize business and project management skills as the keys to a professional remodeling operation. The CGR identifies those individuals who exemplify professionalism in the remodeling industry. As a CGR, you become a member of an exclusive national program, gain recognition as an industry leader and call attention to yourself in a crowded marketplace.

The Certified Green Professional (CGP) is designed to teach building industry professionals strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options. When you become a CGP, you gain a greater understanding of sustainable building techniques, knowledge of methods to achieve higher energy efficiency, marketing and sales tools specifically tailored to green building and the business practices that foster success.

Sharpen your selling skills, relate to your customer, and distinguish yourself through superior customer service! As a CSP, you will increase your marketability in the home building industry.  This program is also approved in many states for continuing education credit toward your real estate license renewal!

The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation is for experienced veterans only.  The GMB takes your education to the next level, honing your skills in the areas of business management, development and finance. This elite program builds on your experience and helps you push your business to the next level, as well as signifying your commitment to excellence to your clients.

The GMR allows CGRs to attain further recognition for their commitment to educational excellence and longevity in the remodeling industry. The GMR helps you take your company to the next level, giving you the tools to identify opportunities for growth and expand your operations into those areas.

As the highest achievement for new home sales and marketing professionals, the MIRM designation sets you apart from other industry professionals. You will find new doors open to you, your marketability in the industry will increase, and you will have a higher earning potential.

If you are thinking about obtaining your Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) or Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) designation, your first step is to take the Builder Assessment Review (BAR) or Professional Remodelers Experience Profile (PREP).
